Stroll down Main Street, enjoying the wide range of specialty stores, eateries, and tap rooms, and enjoy fantastic music from Common Ground.

One of McDowell County’s most talented bluegrass groups, and with more than a 100 years of combined experience, this group will delight you with the scope of their talent.

Common Ground
With a clear tenor voice, lead vocalist is Mike Ennis.  Mike is a McDowell County boy that can sing those high bluegrass notes and is skilled on the acoustic guitar.  Mike comes from a musical family and adds great harmony.

Jeff Ethridge brings a strong baritone and lead vocal.  Jeff is a talented and long-time guitar picker and calls McDowell County home.

Old Fort’s own Elton Allison is well known as a talented banjo picker and adds melody to the vocals.  Elton is a delight to watch as he brings that distinctive bluegrass banjo sound to the group.

Carson Gibson comes in with the upright bass with Common Ground.  Carson has been on the local bluegrass scene for many years and adds the bass beat.

Last, but not least, is the youngest member of the group, Stephen Haney on the mandolin.  Learning the mandolin from his grandpa, Stephen has been playing bluegrass all of his life; even participating in the elementary school talent shows.  Stephen is a McDowell County native and talented musician.

Playing together for the past fifteen years, Common Ground is in tune with each other and plays well off of each other.  While they love to share their love for traditional mountain music with the audience, they are always adding newer songs to their line-up.  Common Ground is an uncommon talent and sure to please.
